It may be three months away, but organisers of Wellington's Gay and Lesbian Fair are urging stallholders to get in early for the March 2005 event to prevent a heterosexual takeover. "We are looking for new stallholders from within the GLBT community to add to our regulars," says Fair spokesman Jeff Montgomery. "In 2004 we invited straight stallholders to the Fair. This resulted in the largest fair ever with 80 stalls - we need more gay and lesbian stallholders in 2005 to maintain the balance." The popular Fair is the largest event on Wellington's queer calendar, and is being organised by Wellington gay business association GAP. Events such as the Dog Show and Handbag Hurling Competition will be back this year, and organisers are seeking sponsors to enable these events to be enlarged and to assist with entertainment costs.
