The Hero Brand Management Group is calling a public meeting in Auckland next week to encourage members of the public keen to be involved with the 2005 festival to come forward. "Key community leaders are welcome to express their views on what is needed to make Hero 2005 a success, and anyone with a view as to what Hero needs to be must attend to ensure that Hero accomplishes what the community seeks," the BMG said in a press statement earlier this week. The festival has been dogged by negative press recently in the form of a disgruntled Express reader whose letter – headlined "The final nail in Hero's coffin?" – was given comparable space to a feature news story in Express, resulting in casual readers of the newspaper mistaking the headline to mean Hero was in trouble again. "Anyone is allowed to voice their opinion on Hero, but I am not prepared to listen to or read comments from anyone who is not prepared to front up and come on board to do something about it," says Hero BMG spokesman Mike Binis. "We need action, not whinging." The one-hour meeting will be held at The Musket Room, Level 1, 29 Ponsonby Road, (top of Ponsonby Road) at 5:30pm next Tuesday 30 November.
