Crusty MP decries "gender-bending" bill

Mon 8 Nov 2004 In: New Zealand Daily News

Crusty NZ First list MP Dail Jones has slammed the passing of the Care of Children Bill, which gives same-sex couples the same parenting rights as heterosexuals. Labelling the bill gender-bending, politically correct clap-trap, Jones said it was absolute nonsense to treat a lesbian female as the father of a child, that a father is a father and a mother is a mother, and that it is biologically impossible for a father to be a mother and a mother to be a father. As far as GayNZ.com is aware, Jones has no qualifications in the area of biology, and we are yet to hear from any lesbian couples whose children call their parents "Daddy".
