Queer Eye host Carson Kressley found himself the victim of a barrage of homophobic abuse by an Australian talk radio host during the Melbourne Cup coverage earlier this week. Kressley was in Australia judging a contest called Melbourne Cup's Fashions on the Field, which seemed to upset radio personality John Laws. Who is this pompous little pansy prig who was strutting around everywhere yesterday?" Laws said to his listeners. "What the hell does a pillow biter know about judging girls?" Laws went on to say that the women's fashion contest should have been judge by "fair-dinkum Australian men", such as himself, or a group of truckers. When challenged over the offensive nature of his remarks, Laws said they were just "a piece of satire". The same excuse has been used in New Zealand by alleged comedian Mike King and low-rating talk radio host Mark Bennett over similar homophobic rants.
