Media biased say Maxim supporters

Fri 27 Aug 2004 In: New Zealand Daily News

Why has the media in New Zealand ignored coverage of the gay marriage ban in Australia, the Maxim Institute wants to know. "The strengthening of the Australian Marriage Act reflects a very different political climate from that which presently exists here...We have to wonder why we are heading in the opposite direction to our closest neighbour?" ponders the Institute in its latest Real Issues newsletter. Supporters of Maxim, posting in their online forum, have the answer – it's all part of a plot by the media and government to cover up the truth. "The climate in Australia is different because, Australia is not run by a cabal politically correct individuals who have of made it their collective life's work to dis-establish the kiwi family as the basic unit of our society, dis establish christianity and to marginalise European hetro-sexual men form public life," writes Norman. "They have long established allies in the academic establishment and the so-called mainstream media." “The media has an agenda...the same media that did not honestly tell the full story about proceedings in Wellington on Monday...This has left many of us feeling mis-represented and not trusting of a biased media,” says Sue. “The Australian example is being ignored not only because it dosen't fit with the agenda of a PC charged government but because the so called 'Church' and christian community have not taken a stand,” notes Johno. “Congratulations to Brian Tamaki and the leadership of the Destiny Church for having the courage to stand at the front line.” Maxim takes no responsibility for the comments posted in their forum. This presumably includes their grammar and spelling.
