Civil Unions Campaign boycotts hate march

Thu 19 Aug 2004 In: New Zealand Daily News

The Campaign for Civil Unions will not be attending the Destiny Church hate march to Parliament on Monday, instead holding a media briefing at St Andrew's on the Terrace for later in the afternoon. Campaign spokesman Jeremy Lambert says the turn-out for Destiny's Auckland rally was low and they've decided to focus their resources on more useful activities, however key campaign organisers will still be available to support the organisations and individuals who are expected to attend. "Wellington has a large number of people who are concerned with the fight for civil rights. These people are not just from the gay and lesbian communities, but include unions, student groups and religious organisations", says Lambert. The Campaign for Civil Unions media briefing will take place at St Andrew's on The Terrace (30 The Terrace) at 2.00pm on Monday 23 August.
