Sexual arrangements of McNee murder accused

Thu 5 Aug 2004 In: New Zealand Daily News

David McNee's alleged murderer says he prayed for forgiveness after bashing the interior designer to death in McNee's bedroom. 24-year-old Phillip Edwards says McNee broke the boundaries of a sexual arrangement they had. Edwards was to be paid $120 for masturbating in front of McNee, but Edwards says that McNee sexually violated him with his fingers. "I said 'Do you think I am a female?' and hit him," Edwards told the court, saying McNee changed from being a kind and friendly person to someone who was demanding and snorted like a pig after sniffing amyl nitrate, known as Rush. Edwards continued to punch McNee between forty and fifty times until blood sprayed the room, but Edwards told the court things became a "blur" after the first blow. "It wasn't in my heart to kill Mr McNee and could God forgive me," he said. Edwards was picked up by McNee on K' Rd. He had previously told police he didn't go with McNee for sexual purposes, but he now says he didn't tell the police the truth because he didn't want people to think he was homosexual. The court heard earlier this week that Edwards had worked as a rent boy, and had an eight-month relationship with a transsexual in 2001.
