Steve Attwood Steve Attwood is the NZ AIDS Foundation's new Christchurch-based Communications Coordinator. Who are you and what's your background? Stephen (Steve) Attwood, former gay Men's Health promoter for NZAF, now Communications Coordinator. Born Geraldine, South Canterbury, worked most of my life as a journalist and PR person, with the odd stint of farming, chefing, bookselling thrown in. Live with Steve (yes, two Steves!), my partner of the past 4.5 years. Formerly married, have three daughters. What do you hope to achieve in your new role at the Foundation? What the job title says. My aim is to develop an internal and external communications strategy for the NZAF and implement it. Includes liaison with allied health groups, media, publications and so on. I'm looking forward to working with people and groups from all areas on how we can improve and maintain NZAF outreach and communication. What characterises the New Zealand GLBT community for you? Diversity, vibrancy, passion and its humanity. What is the worst thing for you about being GLBT? The prejudice my children sometimes experience because of their gay dad. What is the best thing about being GLBT? because it's who I am and by being true to myself my life, and the lives of those close to me, has been enhanced. having come blasting out of the closet more than ten years ago I would never want to go back. Relationship status? Partnered to Steve. Favourite food    GayNZ.com - 12th May 2004
