Local film wins at Out Takes

Sun 4 Jul 2004 In: New Zealand Daily News

NZ-made short film Straight Hike For The Butch Dyke has taken out the audience award for best narrative short at this year's Out Takes film festival. The 20-minute comedy directed by Wellington film-maker and Queer Nation reporter Robyn Paterson spoofs Queer Eye For The Straight Guy, following the efforts of four chardonnay-swilling straight girls to convert butch dyke Libby. "It's really exciting for everyone involved with the film, and a great boost for homegrown gay and lesbian cinema," says Paterson. "I've been approached by a number of international fests requesting preview copies, so it's a good chance to put New Zealand on the queer map!"
