Tonight's episode of gay TV series Queer Nation is the first of ten fill-in episodes specially funded by NZ On Air to plug the gap between the end of the last series and its successor. Queer Nation was to have finished up last week, TVNZ has called for submissions for a successor series in the same timeslot on TV2 but has yet to announce details of producers who have put forward concepts or any progress reports. Livingstone Productions, makers of Queer Nation, are understood to be amongst those who have tendered proposals. In the meantime the 10-episode filler series will have an altered format and changes in presenters after several previous staff elected to end their work on the series at the end of their contracts last week. Both Kelly Rice and Rebecca Singh have departed and one new face is GayNZ.com's Chris Banks who has been contracted to compile a weekly news segment. Livingstone productions has indicated that the new format will also include an in-depth interview/magazine issue-style piece and a lighter entertainment or personality item to close the show.
