Auckland Pride investigations continue

Tue 11 May 2004 In: New Zealand Daily News

Fraud investigations at Auckland's Pride Centre are continuing, but no comment is being made by the Centre regarding alleged fraudster Martin van der Reit's recent allegations of mismanagement. “We don't want a trial by media,” says spokesman Angus Stutter. “We're continuing our investigation, which is progressing very well.” Van der Reit alleged that the Centre was inflating the number of people who used its facilities when applying for charitable funding, saying in an interview with GayNZ.com that the Centre only got between one and three enquiries per week. Stutter says the Centre is not commenting publicly on anything Van der Reit has to say, but when asked about the number of enquiries the Centre receives said it is “a lot more” than 1-3 per week.
