Large number of queer TV proposals

Fri 23 Apr 2004 In: New Zealand Daily News

TVNZ say they have received a large number of proposals following the queer TV brief for Queer Nation's replacement issued earlier this month. TVNZ producer Tony Holden says the submissions will be assessed at the next NZ On Air meeting as they fully fund Queer Nation. TVNZ will be making their own representation to NZ On Air once they have evaluated the proposals themselves. “We believe there is a very high standard,” he says. A TVNZ source says that among the proposals were submissions by a number of well-known talents and producers seeking a tender for the new show, but none were willing to speak to media at this time when contacted by GayNZ.com. NZ On Air is also remaining tight-lipped about the quality and content of submissions, as well as the timeframe for decision-making.
