The magazine which last year alleged PM Helen Clark was a closet lesbian determined to socially re-engineer New Zealand society has now turned its sights on openly gay Labour MP Tim Barnett, comparing him to Lenin and accusing him of ulterior motives in pushing civil unions. Ian Wishart's Investigate magazine has this month published an article by far right journalist Bernard Moran entitled “Queerly Beloved”, which makes sinister connections between Barnett's involvement with lobby group Stonewall in the UK and paedophilia, and suggests that civil unions is a backdoor for polygamy and group marriage. “Queerly Beloved” is the latest in a series of anti-gay articles written by Moran and printed in Wishart's self-published magazine, which was investigated by GayNZ.com last year after claims from fundamentalist-Christian Wishart that soy milk was turning men gay.
