A Waikato woman charged with molesting her female flatmate has been found guilty of sexual violation. 37-year-old Donelle Ida Herewini was charged after she entered the woman's room on the night of May 25, 2002 after a night of drinking beer and smoking cannabis. She lay on top of her and sexually violated her. The prosecution argued that Herewini's stories about how the incident occurred were inconsistent. She had told her friend the woman was lying because she owed Herewini rent money, she told another person that the woman had initially consented and then changed her mind and finally she told police the woman had come on to her. A Hamilton District Court jury deliberated for five hours on Thursday night before finding Herewini guilty of sexual violation by unlawful sexual connection. She has been remanded in custody to be sentenced 26 April.
