Topp Twins honoured

Sun 4 Apr 2004 In: New Zealand Daily News

Jools and Lynda Topp, better known as the Topp Twins, were yesterday made members of the New Zealand Order of Merit by the Governor General, Dame Silvia Cartwright. The award was for services to entertainment, but also their commitment to political issues, including nuclear-free campaigning, Maori land rights, apartheid, and homosexual law reform. "We were very excited that they not only recognised us for our comedy and song-writing, but the political stuff as well. That is pretty important to us,” said Jools.
