A speaker from the AIDS Foundation has been banned from Northcote College in Auckland after the contents of a sex education lecture was complained about by parents. Newstalk ZB this morning reported that Students at Northcote College were quizzed about masturbation during the class, and given condoms and leaflets discussing anal sex. The NZ Herald described the leaflet as containing “graphic pictures”, and says the students were also given strawberry-flavoured lubricant. Principal Ted Benton says there were two speakers from the Foundation addressing separate classes. He believes one of them went too far with his descriptions and will not be allowed back at the school. Kerry Price, the Foundation's health promotions manager, says the school had requested a presentation for pupils and was well aware of what the content of the lessons would be. He says the Foundation normally sticks to training teachers to deliver safe-sex messages to avoid problems like this.
