Homophobe Peters worst-behaved MP

Sun 14 Dec 2003 In: New Zealand Daily News

NZ First leader Winston Peters is this year's worst-behaved MP, according to an annual register kept by United Future leader Peter Dunne. Peters was "named" by the Speaker once, expelled from the House four times and ordered to withdraw and apologise 19 times, Dunne's register shows. One of the nineteen apologies made by Peters was to gay MP Chris Carter, whom Peters called a “nancy” in March. Two days later, Peters wolf-whistled at Carter when he entered the House wearing a lei from a Samoan protest outside.
