Auckland athlete Tony Lymburn has become the first New Zealander to make the Gay Games list of all-time men's sprint records, based on his performance at the Sydney Games in 2002. He says he was informally advised of his placing "quite a while ago" but did not want to acknowledge until it was "official". "I feel very proud of this achievement," he says. Mr Lymburn appears twice in the list, achieving first place in the 200m 50+ category with a time of 25.81 seconds, and second place as part of a relay team in the 4 x 400m 50+ category along with team members Ross Baxter, Berend Westera and Michael Sumner. Wellington athlete Alex Robinson also makes an appearance, achieving third equal place in the 100m 50+ category, achieving a time of 13.26 seconds at the New York Games in 1994.
