The Ministry of Health marks World AIDS Day with the launch of a new action plan to combat HIV/AIDS, as well as funding boosts. An extra $1.2 million will be allocated this year to supporting national and local sexual health services, including $300,000 for the NZAF. Acting Director of Public Health Doug Lush says sex between men continues to be the major source of new infections, with more than 100 recorded every year, and that it is vital that awareness of HIV remain high.
