Tau Henare thinks Destiny is "wonderful"

Fri 14 Nov 2003 In: New Zealand Daily News

Former politician Tau Henare, filling in for Kerre Woodham on Newstalk ZB, last night praised the Destiny Church in response to a male caller ringing to promote Destiny New Zealand, the church's political arm. "I think the Destiny Church is bloody amazing. An organisation who can turn around the lives of so many people for the better should get a medal," he said. "I'm not a religious person, but I care about my family.” The caller asked if Henare had ever been to the church, to which Henare responded that he hadn't, but he had seen their broadcasts on television and his young son watches them from time to time when he gets up for school in the morning. Henare praised Pastor Brian and the church for being able to “correct” people's lives for the good of their spiritual wellbeing. Destiny Church's morning broadcasts recently included a series on homosexuality that ran for over a week, in which Pastor Brian Tamaki said that all gays hated God and were anti-Christ, and that "sodomites" molested children. “You've got to watch your daughters, you've got to watch your sons,” said Tamaki.
