Auckland minister Stuart Lange says that the Presbyterian Church could be headed for destruction, now that a judicial committee has allowed gays and lesbians to apply to the ministry. Lange, a spokesman for Presbyterian Affirm, says the decision would never have got through a full assembly of the church. "It is the teaching of the scriptures from start to finish that God's intention for human sexual relations is faithful loving marriage between one man and one woman,” he said. "Homosexual practice is contrary to the purpose of God.” Lange's panic has been generated by the successful application of Wellington lay-preacher Deborah Gordon to train for the ministry. Ms Gordon appealed to the judicial committee last year after she was rejected by the ministry for being a lesbian.
