The latest "gay gene" theory suggests that gay men may be the result of a failed attempt at unconscious murder by mothers during pregnancy. Author Bryan Sykes, a professor of genetics at Oxford University, puts forward his theory in his new book “Adam's Curse: A Future Without Men”, which also suggests the male blueprint is headed for extinction within the next 100,000 years of evolution. Professor Sykes believes that mitochondria, a form of DNA contained only in the female egg, seeks to kill male foetuses so it can dominate over the male-making Y chromosome, a theory untested on humans which has been observed in the animal kingdom. He admits his theory is controversial, though not as controversial as the theory which suggests homosexuality is a genetic disease.
