An 807-signature petition demanding a further inquiry into the Peter Ellis case has brought some action from the government, albeit limited. Tim Barnett, Parliament's justice and electoral committee chairman, has said that a select committee will be investigating the case further to see whether a Royal Commission of Inquiry is warranted. "We will initially hear from the chief petitioners and the Ministry of Justice and will seek comments from both parties on each other's submissions,” he said. "We will not rehear the case."
