Bent can opener for Goff

Tue 16 Sep 2003 In: New Zealand Daily News

Justice Minister Phil Goff has the dubious honour of being the inaugural winner of the Bent Can Opener Award from the New Zealand Skeptics, owing to his refusal to revisit the Peter Ellis case. "The Christchurch Civic Creche case raises some very real concerns about a whole raft of justice issues," said Skeptics chairwoman Vicki Hyde. "We recognise that it is a can of worms for the minister, but it is one that needs to be opened if we are to continue to have confidence in our justice system." Goff could not be reached for comment on his award as he is presently overseas.
