Marshall and Herkt launch tabloid

Sun 10 Aug 2003 In: New Zealand Daily News

Sacked Queer Nation staffers Jonathan Marshall and David Herkt have launched what they are calling a celebrity tabloid news website, which includes excerpts from a personal email between Mike Hosking and his estranged wife discussing care of their children. Both Marshall and Herkt were fired from Queer Nation earlier this year after they pursued Hosking on more than one occasion in order to take photos of him to be sold to women's magazines. Herkt then described their adventures in detail on the internet. "It's not about Mike Hosking, it's a website which is New Zealand news. Mike Hosking just happens to be part of the New Zealand landscape and therefore will, at times, feature,” says Marshall. "People may think there is a personal vendetta, but I have a great deal of respect for Mr Hosking. He's a man of mystery." The site currently contains two other stories, one including photos of Sean Fitzpatrick's wife in her underwear, and the other threatening to reveal the names of MPs who have used Wellington sex workers. Herkt and Marshall say they also plan to publish home addresses of celebrities in the near future.
