Singer/songwriter and fashion designer Lindah E is a winner in the Innovation category in the semi-finals of this year's Modus Operandi Fashion Awards, securing her a place in New Zealand Fashion Week later this year. Lindah's garment was a “cocomono” – a sexy Pacific-style kimono made from hundreds of polished coconut rings. “I love it. Visually, it's amazing,” said judge Liz Findlay. “It's a work of art, it should be hanging in a gallery.” Designing for her own label Dencium-Compri, Lindah has had an almost-unbroken run of nominations in the annual Smokefree Fashion Awards dating back to 1994, producing Polynesian-styled garments for CD launches, Style Pasifika and international performance festivals in Berlin and Brisbane.
