McNee murder accused remanded

A 23-year-old man accused of murdering celebrity designer David McNee appeared in the Auckland District Court yesterday. Phillip Layton Edwards was remanded to reappear in a pre-depositions hearing on 22 August. Defence lawyer Roy Wade made no application for bail. Edwards was arrested in Central Auckland on Monday night. Though formerly from Hawkes Bay, the charge sheet listed his current address in the suburb of Mount Albert, Auckland.
