David McNee laid to rest

Tue 29 Jul 2003 In: New Zealand Daily News

Celebrity designer David McNee was laid to rest in Waikanae yesterday, farewelled by 200 family and friends, including his mother. "David would want us to celebrate his life with dignity," said celebrant Don Manning. "He wouldn't want us to be too morbid or sad." Long-time family friend Mick Robbers said everyone was astounded, mystified and angry at Mr McNee's senseless death. "I will always remember David for his love for his family,” he said, adding, "I can imagine him arriving at the gates [of heaven] and saying, 'These gates have got to go'."
