Some entries for the Westfield Style Pasifika fashion awards have been extended to mid-August, after requests from internationally based New Zealand designers could not make the initial July 25 deadline for preliminary entries. The awards carry a new category this year, Pasifka Hero, a celebration of specifically gay design and entertainment talent. There are many prizes up for grabs, the major winner receiving a package worth $20,000 that includes an all-expenses paid trip to Italy to attend Versace design workshops. Three designers will also receive the opportunity to show garments in a combined show at this year's New Zealand Fashion Week. Finalists in the awards will be showcased at the Auckland Town Hall on September 17-18 in a presentation that will be televised on TV One in primetime. The final date for all entries is August 15.
