Dunedin workshop raises awareness for gay youth

Wed 23 Jul 2003 In: New Zealand Daily News

Out There, a joint Rainbow Youth and New Zealand AIDS Foundation project, is aiming to raise awareness of gay youth among health professionals and social workers in the community. A workshop held last week in Dunedin by Out There was attended by youth educators from around the country, many of whom had expressed a need to be re-educated on LGBT issues. Otago Youth Wellness Trust senior social worker Sandie Thomas said the workshop would help the agency establish itself as a welcoming place for youths questioning their sexuality.
