Wed 26 Apr 2017 In: New Zealand Daily News View at Wayback

The longest-serving employee at the New Zealand AIDS Foundation has left the organisation as a result of a restructure. Tony Hughes Tony Hughes has left his role of Scientific Director after 32 years of service to the NZAF and is moving on as the result of a recent organisation wide restructure driven by ongoing financial constraints and a new Strategic Plan. As the organisation grapples with a shrinking level of government-provided public health funding, a number of other employees have also lost their jobs. NZAF Executive Director Jason Myers says Hughes’ contribution to the NZAF has simply been immeasurable. “More than just his outstanding work for the Foundation, he has made a significant contribution to public health and human rights in New Zealand more broadly. His steadfast commitment to evidence based programming coupled with his sharp intellect and strategic insight have been an absolute asset over many years. We wish him all the very best.”
