Universities provide menstrual products for trans men

Wed 19 Apr 2017 In: International News View at Wayback

A number of Universities in the US are making menstrual products available in men's bathrooms to cater for transgender men on campus. Tampons and pads will be available in both female and male bathrooms at the University of Wisconsin-Madison as the University implements a new pilot programme. Other colleges in the US, including Bowdoin College in Maine and Brown University have also piloted having menstrual products in men’s bathrooms. Steve Wagner from the University of Wisconsin-Madison says “Menstrual products will be available in all of the bathrooms of the Red Gym so that they are available to any student who might need them.” Student Rep. Katrina Morrison suggested the pilot programme and says purchasing menstrual products is “an unnecessary burden. “Having them be free and readily available in campus buildings is definitely a necessity.”
