Human Rights Commissioner Richard Tankersley will be speaking about human rights in the context of queer and gender diverse communities tomorrow night as part of a Rainbow Room Series in Wellington. Human Rights Commissioner Richard Tankersley The talk is hosted by St Andrews on The Terrace and will be an opportunity for the public to understand the human rights issues facing queer and gender diverse communities with an overview of the human rights framework, some achievements to date and areas that still need work. The community will be encouraged to continue to press for the full realisation of the human rights for all parts of the Rainbow Communities. Tankersley has been a Commissioner at the Human Rights Commission for the past eight and a half years and actively involved in community human rights work since the 1980s. He says “Pride is about knowing and celebrating ourselves, and part of that is about knowing and exercising the rights and responsibilities that we have as part of the human family.” Human Rights for the GLBTI Community Thursday 16 March 2017 5.30 - 6.30pm St Andrews Centre, 30 The Terrace Refreshments from 5pm
