Alleged gay sex workers in Tanzania are at risk of having their names published publicly before being arrested as the nation’s Deputy Health Minister threatens to crackdown on “the homosexuality syndicate”.   Tanzania'z Deputy Health Minister Hamisi Kigwangalla Hamisi Kigwangalla announced his plan on Twitter saying “I will publish a list of gay people selling their bodies online. “Those who think this campaign is a joke are wrong. The government has long arms and it will arrest all those involved quietly. “Once arrested they will help us find other.” The latest news follows an announcement that the Government is no longer allowing privately run clinics to provide HIV-related services, impacting up to 40 clinics. Health Minister Ummy Mwalimu says the Government believes these clinics were using these services to promote gay sex and as a result says the Government will expand HIV services in state-controlled clinics. Homosexuality is illegal in Tanzania and those found guilty face prison sentences of up to 30 years.
