Touch rugby tournament rain-delayed by a week

Fri 17 Feb 2017 In: New Zealand Daily News View at NDHA

Continuing wet weather has forced a change of date for a touch rugby tournament being held as part of the Auckland Pride Festival 2017. The JX Live Touch Tournament was scheduled for this evening at Victoria Park but ground conditions and the need to preserve the playing surface for cricket had meant a re-scheduling to next Friday 24th, starting at the slightly earlier time of 5pm. Event organiser Dion Hosking says the consistent recurring rain showers over the past several days have left the Victoria Park fields, which are shared with the Grafton Cricket Club, vulnerable, and there are also health and safety issues. The tournament is run under the auspices of the JX Chargers, the country's oldest and longest-running glbt touch team, in association with TouchRugby.co.nz.
