Several people are reported to have been killed after a gunman opened fire at a gay-friendly club in Cancun, Mexico during the early hours of this morning. Image: AFP/Getty The Blue Parrot Beach Club in Playa del Carmen was hosting the last night of one of the world’s largest electronic music festivals, BPM, when at around 2.30am shots were fired. The Telegraph is reporting five people have been killed and 15 injured, a figured the outlet says had been confirmed by authorities. Those killed include three members of the festival’s security team, one woman was killed during a stampede as people ran out of the venue. Quintana Roo state Attorney General, Miguel Angel Pech, told The Telegraph that it is believed a lone gunman entered the nightclub and began exchanging fire with someone inside. Security attempted to stop the shooting. The Blue Parrot Beach Club is listed as gay-friendly on a number of websites which include Daily Xtra Travel and Gay Playa del Carmen.
