More than 10 million Americans now identify as being glbt, according to poll information just released. Gallup, a long-standing and reputable polling company, says the percentage of Americans who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender has increased from 3.5% in 2012 to 4.1% in 2016. "These figures, drawn from the largest representative sample of LGBT Americans collected in the U.S., imply that more than an estimated 10 million adults now identify as LGBT in the U.S. today, approximately 1.75 million more compared with 2012," Gallup says. The data was collected over a five-year period ending December last year, with randomly chosen people being interviewed over the telephone. The data indicates that glbt identification rose particularly amongst Asians. Hispanics and women compared to other groups.
