A market day usually associated with the Pride festival is making an special pre-Christmas appearance this Saturday, featuring the work of some of Auckland's notable emerging queer artists and craft workers. Stitched mini-artworks by Tricia The Queer Christmas market will be a celebration of the festive season and pride, according to its organisers and will be held at Rainbow Youth's premises in Abbey Street near the western end of Karangahape Road. Among the items for sale will be screen-printed T-Towels, T-Shirts and Bags by Rainbow T Towel Love, Jewellery, Homemade Calendar, Linoprint cars by Luisa and Molly and comic art by Sam Orchard. Richard Fairgray's Blastosaurus comics, Ghost Ghost series and internationally acclaimed children’s books. A newcomer to the market will be Splitclay, a queer artist creating zines and art about their experiences, aiming to help people feel less lonely with their art. The organisers say the items on sale “explore queerness, trans-ness, sexuality, gender, poly, kink, leather, feminism, geekery, and everything in-between” and are ideal Christmas gifts.
