Transgender people were victims of Oakland fire

Indications are emerging that several transgender people have been victims of the horrific fire in Oakland, California, which has claimed at least 30 lives. Part of the Oakland warehouse interior before the fire The warehouse, known as the 'Ghost Ship,' appears to have been an extensive makeshift studio and residential space for artists and a dance party was getting underway when the fire took hold. There are reports that there were no fire exits, no smoke or fire alarms and a cluttered interior on two levels. As firefighters and other officials start to pick their way through the ruined building finding bodies a County Sheriff's office spokesperson says his department is "working with the transgender community to identify some of the victims."
