Tue 29 Nov 2016 In: New Zealand Daily News View at Wayback

With 20 days to go a Give A Little fundraising campaign to help a Northland lesbian who suffered extreme leg injuries in a motorbike accident has raised just over $4,600. In a feature article in this week's NZ Women's Weekly Christine Welch's partner Lisa Charman, who is a paramedic, describes how she feared the worst when police called her two months ago regarding her road safety instructor partner. A car had collided at high speed with Welch's van and she was "lucky to be alive." Welch suffered multiple injuries to her back, leg and face and may not be able to return to her work if she loses her right leg which remains a possibility. A Give A Little campaign set up soon after the crash with a target of $10,000 has attracted $4,600 in donations.
