Mon 28 Nov 2016 In: New Zealand Daily News View at Wayback

This year’s Legacy Project has kicked off and stories are being finalised. Now the call is out for actors to audition and help bring the stories to life. Actors of all backgrounds and experience levels are welcome to apply for a part in one of six brand new queer theatre works and successful applicants will perform as part of the Auckland Pride Festival 2017 in a week-long season. The theatre development project established to provide a platform for emerging writers to tell the stories of the LGBTI communities. “As an inclusive queer theatre project, we have a responsibility to produce work that reflects the diversity of Aotearoa New Zealand, and we encourage and support people of all identities and backgrounds to audition to be part of Legacy Project 4. This includes, but is not limited to: race, culture, gender identity and expression, sex, sexual orientation, age, and disability,” say organisers. Auditions will be held on Saturday 3 December and anyone interested in applying will need to prepare a brief monologue of your own choosing (no more than 5 minutes) that showcases the kind of material, either dramatic or comedic, you would like to work on. Audtions will be in front of six directors each looking to cast their play therefore versatility is key. To register for the auditions, head to legacyproject.co.nz
