Dating app Tinder has been updated and now gives users 37 new gender identity options. Following feedback from trans and gender diverse users of the app who have reported incidents of harassment relating to their identity, the team at Tinder worked closely with GLAAD and users to find a solution. Chief Executive Sean Rad says “Six months ago we discovered that the transgender community on Tinder was experiencing some harassment on the platform. ”When we initially heard about it, we were very angry.” He says Tinder will be looking to further update the app regarding gender identity in the future. Users now have the option of displaying their gender identity on their profile, however when selecting preferences to view, the options are still only limited to male or female.
