Help needed to make Wgtn Pride youth ball a reality

Fri 18 Nov 2016 In: New Zealand Daily News View at Wayback

Youth in Wellington are planning a Ball for next year’s Wellington Pride Festival and funding and sponsorship is currently being sought to make the ball as affordable, accessible and fun as possible. A Givealittle page has been set up to kick off the fundraising efforts for the ball, which is expected to attract about 400 young people from the Wellington region, Wairarapa and Manawatu. The fundraising is being organised by Jac Lynch, who says the ball “will be a fun, inclusive and supportive event for 13 to 18 year olds, hosted by young people and supported by older members of the rainbow community.” “For students who don't conform to sexuality or gender norms the usual school balls are often unwelcoming - partners banned, dress codes enforced, unsafe environments,” says Lynch. “This Givealittle page is to help raise initial funds to, well, get the Ball rolling...any contribution you can make is really appreciated.” Click here to make a donation.
