Iconic Bar, who were hosting the Mr Bears Canterbury competition, as well as the comedy evening, have had to close their doors this week and organisers were then tasked with finding last-minute replacement venues. The bar stated the closure was due to a construction work problem that left them without water however the future of the bar is unclear as their Facebook page has since been removed and staff have moved out of the offices. Organisers say “Such are the challenges of running events in our post earthquake city! “However, all is not lost!” Confirmed to host Friday night’s comedy evening is Duo Dining Room and Bar, with Saturday night’s Mr Bears event changing venues to Casa Publica. With eight events to sink your teeth into, this is the biggest Big Bear Weekend ever and organisers say things are looking like it’s shaping up to be a busy one, more pre-sales for the Comedy night then there has been in the past and there has been a surge in pre-sale tickets over night.
