Canada has changed rules for foreigners entering the country and now allows some to identify as gender-neutral on travel documents. The new Electronic Travel Authorizations (eTAs), for people traveling to, or through Canada, will now have a third option of “other” under the question of gender, an option that a only a handful of countries, including New Zealand, have. A spokesperson for Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada says that there are also moves towards allowing a passport holders have ‘other’ recorded on their documents. “IRCC is committed to facilitating the issuance of identification with a sex designation that reflects a person’s gender identity.”
