Boy George, who is performing here next month, walked out of an interview on New Zealand’s Seven Sharp programme last night after he didn’t like a line of questioning. Boy George was asked by TV presenter Toni Street about his conviction for assault and falsely imprisoning a male escort in 2009. He told her “… why don’t you move on to something more helpful, you know what I mean?” before adding “In fact, you know what… thank you” and walked off screen. He later Tweeted about the interview saying “Just did a stinking interview for New Zealand which I ended @RobertDowneyJr style! Now I need my own movie franchise!” Boy George will be playing his first ever show here in Auckland on December 4. A Christchurch show booked for December 2 was canceled following the interview but his representation says the two aren’t connected. Boy George Tweeted that the show was canceled as there was “not enough live in Christchurch”.
