Tributes pour in for couple killed at Dreamworld

Friends and loved ones having been paying tribute to Roozi Araghi and Luke Dorsett, the couple who were among those who lost their lives in the tragic incident at Dreamworld on Tuesday.   Araghi and Dorsett were on the Thunder River Rapids Ride with four other people when the raft they were on flipped, killing the adults onboard. Dorsett’s sister also lost her life in the incident, her daughter who was on the ride at the time managed to make her way to safety. New Zealander Cindy Low was the forth victim of the accident, her son was also on the ride and was admitted to hospital after he was flung from the raft, he was later discharged. Friends have taken to social media to express their sadness following the death of Araghi and Dorsett. ABC radio presenter Patricia Karvelas is among those grieving and has Tweeted “Roozi and Luke were the best and most loyal friends. They never missed one of my girls’ birthdays. They never forgot to check in. Words fail me.” Araghi, who was once a contributor for Australian LGBTI media outlet, SameSame, worked at the Australian Bureau of Statistics as part of the communications team and a statement released by the Bureau said "The ABS is devastated by the tragic loss of Roozi Araghi, one of our dedicated, professional hardworking team members, who was very popular and well-regarded. "His loss is deeply felt, and our thoughts and wishes are with his family and friends. “He had the rare ability to communicate complex and technical matters in a clear and easy to understand manner, while also bringing a lot of joy and fun to the workplace.” Australian Labor Party NSW senator Sam Dastyari says he was “lucky enough to have been raised with Roozi Araghi” and shared that he was “a caring, gentle and sweet soul”. Other tributes come from old friends like Dom Knight who wrote “Farewell Roozi Araghi, an old uni friend who died at Dreamworld. A passionate, funny, brilliant man with an unquenchable love of retro pop.”
