Russia to blacklist LGBTI teen support website

Thu 13 Oct 2016 In: International News View at Wayback View at NDHA

Russian LGBTI teenagers will soon be unable to access an online support system because the government believes is violates the ‘gay propaganda’ law.   The website Deti-404, which translates to Children-404, allows users to share their personal stories of the issues they face being LGBTI in Russia. Claiming the website is “spreading banned information” the website’s founder Yelena Kilmova says the state media watchdog will be blacklisting it. In the past Kilmova has been fined because of being in breach of the ‘gay propaganda’ law. “Most likely, the site will be suspended in Russia in the near future,” Klimova has written on social media. “We shall keep working.”
