*Spoiler alert* Australian TV show Married at First Sight has flown a same-sex couple to our shores for a wedding in Queenstown. Craig and Andy during their ceremony. Photo: Channel Nine In the episode, that aired last night in New Zealand, the couple Craig and Andy tied the knot in Queenstown because of Australia’s lack of marriage equality laws, although the weddings that take place on the show are technically not legal. The show is in it’s third season and couples are matched based on science and personality by two “experts”. The two men have received a lot of backlash from the Australian LGBTI community, with some believing that the on-air marriage was “setting back” the marriage equality movement by exploiting a gay couple for entertainment value. All couples on the show marry in a non-binding ceremony before honeymooning and spending a month living together. During this time however, Craig decided that the relationship was not for him and left the house the couple were staying in while Andy was in the shower.
