Attitude Pictures is looking for members of the LGBTI Auckland communities to participate in a project that aims to help reduce the stigma of mental illness and encourage others to talk about mental health in the workplace. Working in collaboration with the Mental Health Foundation, Attitude Pictures is creating an exciting series of short films that will equip line managers across a diverse range of workplaces with the awareness, confidence and skills to have successful conversations about mental health and wellbeing with their employees. The team say the next step is to recruit line managers and employees who are willing to speak on camera about their experiences of having conversations around mental health in the workplace – this is where you may be able to help them. They are extending an invitation to individuals and workplaces to be involved in the production. The focus of the interviews will be looking at what has and hasn’t worked when it comes holding successful conversations. They are particularly interested in speaking with you about: · Why it’s important to talk about mental health in the workplace and what the benefits are · The impact of not talking about it · What barriers can be in place for both the line manager and the worker · What skills you need to have a successful conversation · What actions Line Mangers can take to talk about mental health If you don’t fit the above bill exactly it doesn't matter - it might have all happened retrospectively. If you are interested in getting involved and want to improve understanding of things like anxiety, depression, stress, schizophrenia or psychosis, please email Rachael atrachael@attitudepictures.comwith your phone number and she will call you with more details.
